Uniting change leaders working to improve health and healthcare
Join the conversation at the next Town Hall in our series featuring physicians who are creating positive disruption to improve health and healthcare. Each Town Hall includes dialogue with a featured speaker and also time in small groups to help make connections across change leaders and change initiatives. Aaron Goodman, MD is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, University of California, San Diego, San Diego, CA. In July 2023, he launched a campaign to end Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements implemented by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Many physicians, regardless of specialty, have been opposed to this certification, as it adds cost and burden and reduces patient care. The petition has garnered tremendous support, with over 20,000 signatures and significant media coverage.
“It’s going to be up to us to try to make some change. I think what people need to realize is we’re just continually being asked to do one more thing and being pulled in different directions. We want to take a little bit of control back.”
Aaron Goodman, MD
The discussion will be moderated by Todd R. Otten, MD, author of “Ripple of Change” and founder of the Our Quadruple Aim movement. He was a family physician for over 20 years, a naval flight surgeon, ACO Medical Director and a former Chief of Staff.
Medicine Forward was founded as a grassroots non-profit organization of physicians to catalyze positive changes in medicine that will improve healthcare today and for future generations.
